Here's a list of games that support 1080p mode: Restarting the PS3 Server and the tick went green and said the connection was successful. Though it should be worth noting UPnPlay doesn't send a 'streaming end' HTTP header to the UPNP server, so after you play one video PS3 media server doesn't know you stopped watching the video and will be stuck in the 'streaming mode', causing any other video not to load until you restart PS3 Media Server. Kind of annoying to see your TV switching resolutions all the time. Hi I have installed PS3 Media Server on my Ubuntu 15.10 desktop and added a connection to my MyBookWorld NAS drive. The PS3 will automatically switch to 720p output. This is the only way I can get my streaming to be bearable.Kleptodathief wrote: ↑another weird thing is when i play games or goto that playstationHOME or when i play that demo tiger woods 2009 game, the resolution goes to 1280x720?īut when im at the main ps3 MENU screen its 1920x1080 That's because a lot of games only support 720p, and not 1080p. Also, adjust the Media Server settings to use all processor cores, and maximize the buffer as much as you can. This helped out a lot when I had a few roomates eating up a lot of bandwidth on my network. If you don't want to use the external HD route and want to keep streaming, I suggest using ethernet cables between your PS3, router, and laptop. The file names on the external have to be set up in a certain way for the movies to show up automatically, if not exact, you have to click on the HD and then click triangle and click show all, or something like that to get everything to show up.The Videos on the external hard drive has to be in a format the ps3 can understand natively. They may be ok for 720p content, depends on what kind of. I would highly doubt, as you say, your homeplugs would be up to the task of streaming 1080p content, definitely not high bitrate stuff. The hard drive has to be in FAT32 format, which may limit some of the larger HD/Bluray movies because FAT32 has a file size limit of around 2 GBs. Yes, PS3 Media Server will enable you to watch pretty much anything via transcoding on-the-fly (if it has to) without the need for anything else. The best advice I can give you, is try to use an external hard drive to hold the movies. Since I have a lot of videos to convert, I've sort of ignored that option. ![]() All of the ones I've used were super slow, would basically take the length of the movie to convert each one. It worked with my old router, but that died so a teck from qwest brought a new one, internet works fine on both pc and ps3, but when I try to do a media search from the ps3 it comes back ' no media servers found' I spent over 8 hours on threads and posts but no luck. ![]() I've tried various programs to convert the videos.
